Sanskritika’s New Branch Inaugurated

The unrelenting efforts of some individuals have given a much needed impetus to the state’s cultural set-up. A new music school, with a scientific training program, has come in the Narengi area of Guwahati, thanks to the efforts of cultural activists Biren Hazarika and Ranima Hazarika. ‘Sanskritika’, located in House no 211 of Laxmipriya path in Narengi, was recently inaugurated by eminent singer Pulok Banerjee while the traditional lamp was ignited by well-known musician duo Jitu-Tapan. The function, presided over by noted musician Nanda Banerjee, was graced by eminent singer Pulok Banerjee, noted writer Indreshwar Nath and Saradi Saikia, former Secretary of Kalakshetra. Indreshwar Das is hopeful that this music school, a special branch of Nanda Banerjee’s core establishment, will play a significant role in the state’s cultural scene. On the other hand, Saradi Saikia praised Nanda Banerjee’s training methods. The inaugural function was enlivened by a Bhajan rendition by Jinti Das and a song sung by Dikhita Sarma.
