Amrita Gogoi is one of the most popular actresses of Assamese entertainment industry. Born in a small village in Sivsagar, Amrita did her schooling at Joysagar Basic and then moved to Cotton College and Guwahati University to study further.
Born to Amrit Gogoi and Debojita Gogoi, Amrita had a keen interest in dancing. While in school, she was trained in Satriya dance by Mahendra Kakati.
Acting Was Never Her First Choice
While Amrita was studying at Cotton College, she participated in a reality show called “Moi Axon Dexor Suali” of Rang Channel. Later she won that title and started anchoring for that show. After several months when she joined Gauhati University, she got a chance to act in a television serial titled “Ragini”. And of course, Ragini was a hit.
Her Big Screen Journey Started With Chandra Mudoi
During her journey with Ragini, Amrita got a call from renowned Assamese film director, Chandra Mudoi. He offered her the lead role of “Soygaonor Champa“. After the shoot of Soygaonor Champa she got another offer from Bani Das for Ahetuk. Ahetuk released before Soygaonor Champa and become one of the most popular films of 2015. Thus the big screen journey of Amrita Gogoi started.
After these two films, Amrita acted in Kowarpuror Konwar, Nijanor Gaan, and Dur. She has one more film to be released this year, Epaar Xipaar.
For her debut film Ahetuk, Amrita won the Best Actor Female award in Prag Cine Awards North-East 2015. In 2017, she nominated for the same award for the film Dur.
Acting in Mobile Theatre
Amrita Gogoi started her acting career of Mobile Theatre in the season of 2016 – 17 in Hengul Theatre with Prosenjit Bora and Syamontika Sharma.
