North East Festival 2014 – Connecting People Celebrating Life


North East Festival(NEF) is an attempt to promote North East India’s culture, resources across India, a platform to discuss critical issues of the region.

North-East Festival (NEF)- Connecting People Celebrating Life is an attempt to create awareness about North East India across the country. The first edition of NEF was organized at Delhi on 8th and 9th November, 2013 at IGNCA, New Delhi. For the first time 8 State Govt of NER joined hand to promote and North East Culture and to highlight various issues faced by the region. The two day extravangaza- biggest ever on North East India witnessed a Carnival of North East folk music, ethnic dance, performance by top musical icons, ethnic fashion show, North East Foods, tourism etc. The NEF was also a platform to highlight the various issues of the region. During NEF 2013 serious discussion on issues of importance such as Internal security and look east policy, Tourism B2B, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Student security in Delhi etc saw participation of top bureaucrats of the country as well North East stakeholders – journalists, intellectuals, State Govt, student bodies etc.

Colours of North East – at Taj Mahal Palace. In between NEF organized Colours of North East at Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai wherein top industrialists, Bollywood personalities media of Mumbai participated in an evening to showcase North East culture, tourism and fabric. It got wide publicity in Mumbai’s media and also many Bollywood flim makers have shown interest in flim shootings in North East.

Next Editon of NEF is proposed on 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of November, 2014 at IGNCA. It would be a Carnival of Music, Dance, Fashion, Photography, Flims, Food showcasing best of talents of North East. Buyer Sellers Meet of Handloom & Handicrafts, Agriculture, Tour Operators. Critical issues would be discussed amongst stakeholders of North East and India’s Policy makers on issues like promoting Investments, Sports etc.

NEF is being organized with support from Eight State Governments of North East, North East Community Delhi and IGNCA and is driven by Trend MMS, one of the most reputed socio-cultural Trust of North East who have experience in organising iconic events like North East Festival, Sankaradeva Movement etc.
