The Assamese Film Industry To Help The Flood Victims of Assam

According to a latest article by BBC, more than a million people have been affected and 60 have died in flood-related incidents so far. Officials say more than 1,600 villages have been inundated. Some 120,000 people have left their homes and taken shelter in more than 300 relief camps. All the major rivers in the state – the Brahmaputra, Jia Bharali, Dhansiri, Puthimari, Beki, Katakhal and the Kushiyara – were flowing above the danger mark for more than three weeks.

To help the flood victims, the Assamese film industry has come up with some unique ideas like organizing friendly football match and rallies. There will be rallies on 21st n 22nd Sept in Guwahati, 23rd n 24th in Tezpur n Jorhat respectively, followed by a friendly football match on 26th in Guwahati (Artists vs Media) in order to raise funds. Interested people can also help financially through Kalaguru Artiste Foundation account.
