Konkona Sen Sharma’s Directorial Debut Film Has An Assamese Song

Actress Konkona Sen Sharma’s directorial debut feature film ‘A Death in the Gunj’, has an Assamese song in it. They have released a short promo of the song “Jiri Jiri” as the “first song teaser” from the film. Other than Hindi, this film will release in Bengali and English also.

A Death In The Gunj is a drama written and directed by Konkona Sen Sharma which features an ensemble cast of Vikrant Massey, Tillotama Shome, Om Puri, Tanuja, Gulshan Devaiah, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, and Ranvir Shorey. The film is set to release on 2nd June, 2017 in India.

The film’s World premiere took place at the 21st annual 2016 Toronto International Film Festival on 10 September 2016. Its Asian premiere was held at the 21st Busan International Film Festival on 7 October 2016.

Konkona Sen Sharma who appears primarily in Indian arthouse and independent films, and her achievements in the genre have established her as one of the leading actresses of contemporary parallel cinema.

  1. The song is beautiful but the singer should have worked on the pronunciations…i guess the singer is non Assamese and has not done enough justice to the song as far as the pronunciations are concerned.
