Zubeen Garg’s Kanchenjunga is a Kind of Mon Jai Part Two

Zubeen Garg’s new Assamese movie Kanchanjangha is scheduled to be released in theatres in January next year. This film is a kind of Mon Jai Part two as Zubeen said in a television interview. The film Kanchanjangha is based on Socio-political issues faced by this generation. Although the main theme of the both Mon Jai and Kanchanjangha is same, Kanchanjangha’s storyline is slightly different and it will be something new for the viewers.

“It is a story of four youths. The name of the film is taken from a poem of Rupkonwer. Our preparation is afoot”, said the new generation’s heartthrob. Rupkonwer had made ‘Joymoti’, the first Assamese film in 1935.

As informed to an Assamese news channel, Kanchanjangha is all set to be released on the day of the upcoming Shilpi Divas, ie 17 January. Shilpi Divas is observed to mark the death anniversary of cultural doyen Rupkonwer Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla.

Zubeen said that the film would be released in Tezpur and Nagaon simultaneously. His dog Siang has also played a role in the movie and had even shot action sequences with him. The famous singer hopes that his film Kanchanjangha would get support from the Assamese movie-goers just like his previous venture.
