2. Beyond The Mat (1999)

Beyond The Mat is a 1999 documentary chronicling the life of retired wrestler “The Natural” (Barry W. Blaustein), which features interviews with family and friends, as well as archival footage of his matches. In case you thought Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 drama The Wrestler was the most sadistic film about an aging performer, Blaustein’s documentary goes even further to explore the physical and emotional toll that professional wrestling can take on a person.
